Honoring 250 Years of America
Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 7:00 PM
First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Avenue, Racine, WI 53403
Our 40th Season Opener celebrates the Choral Arts Society voices elevated by brass and percussion, poetry recited by Guest Young Artists from local high schools, and a 30th Anniversary performance of Glenn Burleigh’s Lamentation and Celebration. This historical program will include Smith’s “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Walker’s “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere,” an excerpt from Thompson’s Testament of Freedom, Paulus’ “Hymn for America,” Johnson’s “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and student recitations of poems by Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson and James Weldon Johnson. In recognition of the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, the CAS will be honoring local first responders by inviting them to join us in singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
*All tickets purchased after 12PM on September 29th will be held at Will Call.*
Carols by Candlelight
In Collaboration with Music & More
Saturday, December 5, 2026 at 7:00 PM
First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Avenue, Racine, WI 53403
Featuring community artists, the Choral Arts Society, and our audience, this performance centers on the reflective mood that music, poetry, and candlelight can shine in winter and spiritual darkness, surrounding all of us with beauty, hope, and peace. It is a new, unique, and unfolding tradition, our gift to the community. In this program, the Choral Arts Society continues our collaborative relationship with two local arts organizations, Music & More and The Studio of Classical Dance Arts.

Returning to her hometown, Broadway singer and actress Mia Pinero will collaborate with the Choral Arts Society to present a program of American musical theatre favorites. Ms. Pinero–a New York City based artist–has performed on Broadway, with national touring companies, and in regional theatres. From Show Boat to Oklahoma, West Side Story to A Chorus Line and, finally, Hamilton, the concert will explore how musicals evolved from operettas to tell the American story. The performance will include “Take Care of This House” from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, which explores the shared ownership of the American Dream.
